Kokoro

I’m a colombian woman, born in Bogota fortunately raised in a little village called Tabio where I learned all about growing in the countryside, all that you can’t learn in a big city. At the age of 17 I partially moved to Bogotá to find it out how to make documentaries. I went to film school and started a career as documentary filmmaker.

4 years ago I started with the art of kirigami, self educated and inspired by some chinese kirigamis that my parents had, researching and experimenting with many tools, papers and techniques until I found my way.

Kokoro means heart, and and is the kanji that one of the most importanta Karate masters gave to me during a training when I was little.

Nowadays I always try to be where my heart tells me to be, and in my artworks I try to put, not only mi skills and concentration but also my love. I’m currently in São Paulo, Brazil, studying, practicing Karate Do and dedicated to my paper work.

Welcome to my portfolio.

Bienvenidos a mi portafolio.

Irene.
